Welcome
Welcome to Posterngate Surgery.

We are a 6-Partner GP Practice situated in purpose built premises in the centre of Selby, covering a radius of about 7 miles. We operate two branch surgeries, one in Cawood and one in Hemingbrough, which are only open part of the week. Details are given on the website.

We became a Training Practice in February 2006 and as such, your medical records may be used for educational purposes. We are taking advice as to whether we need to ask patients registering with us to sign a consent form giving permission for their records to be used in this way.

We have a full Primary Health Care Team, details of whom can be found on the link below.

Opening Hours
The main surgery is open on Monday from 8.15am to 8.00pm and on Tuesday to Friday from 8.15am to 6.00pm daily. Our last appointment on Monday is at 7.50pm and on Tuesday to Friday is at 5.40pm.

The surgery is closed outside these times. If you need urgent advice and treatment when the surgery is closed, you may call the Out-of-Hours Service on 0845 0568060.

On Monday evenings, from 6.00pm until 7.50pm, we run an evening surgery. This is designed for people aged 16-65 years, who work and have difficulty getting appointments at other times, and these people will have priority.

Disabled Access
Our main surgery has full disabled access, with automatic front doors, and all patient services on the ground floor. There are 3 disabled parking bays within the surgery car park. For people who have mobility problems, but are not in a wheelchair, we have access to the surgery via the back door. This is kept locked, for security reasons, but there is a call system to reception and remote unlocking.

In the waiting room, we have a loop system, for patients using hearing aids. We also have a visual call system.

In addition, we have a portable loop, which can be taken into any of the rooms for patients who have particularly problems with hearing, and need extra help on a 1 to 1 basis.

We regret that our branch surgeries are both converted from other use, and do not have easy disabled access. In particular, Cawood Surgery has a large step into the waiting room, which can cause difficulties. However, our dispenser is always pleased to help, if she can.
New Patients
Our Practice list is currently open at all 3 sites.

However, the GPs do not accept patients from other GP Practices within Selby, other than people who live in the catchment area for Cawood Surgery. With the branch surgery at Beech Tree closing down, we will accept anyone who attends Cawood surgery who wishes to move to mainytin their service in Cawood village.
